Hi everyone!! Our beautiful baby girl has officially arrived. She is sweeter than ever and we couldn't ask for anything better.
Shayla arrived on Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 at 8:13 a.m. via C-Section. Delivery was a piece of cake. No complications at all this time around. Thank goodness. Shayla weighed 6 lbs 12 oz and was 18 1/2 inches long. That puts her 8 oz larger heavier than Akayla and a half inch longer as well. We're in hopes that it's a good sign that she may not have the brittle bone disease like her mommy or sister. Shayla will be tested for that when she is 3 wks old.
Akayla has adjusted to her pretty well. Each day she is getting better and better with wanting to be around baby Shayla. On the arrival day, Akayla wasn't too sure about it and did not want to really be too close to her although she was curious. On Wednesday Akayla came to visit and this time she asked to hold baby Shayla which was sweet. Thursday, she didn't see Shayla very much since we got home from the hospital late. Friday, Akayla would ask to hold baby Shayla and she would sing the Shayla. Shayla really did enjoy having her sister sing to her. She would stop fussing and would listen to Akayla. Saturday and Sunday, we've been having a tough time getting Akayla to leave Shayla alone. Shayla has a bouncer that she sits/sleeps in and we have been needing to keep an eye on Akayla because she will come in front of Shayla and try to give her a kiss while in the process she'd be putting all of her body weight on top of Shayla. We're working on having Akayla approach Shayla from the side of the bouncer which would allow Akayla to place her body weight on the actual Bouncer itself instead of the baby.
As for Keidy and I, we are working really hard at making sure to balance the two girls. So far I'd say we're doing a pretty good job. Keidy is loving little Shayla and has realized how fast his Akayla grew up that now he doesn't want to miss anything with little Shayla. He's enjoying holding her as much as possible. As for me, I'm in pain, loving the medication (even though I hate swollowing pills), and am overall loving both girls differently but equally. Our little family feels complete even though it may not be officially done growing.
